Project Description

Our customer is a well-known real estate platform in France that helps users find properties to buy or rent. As a startup, they initially focused on getting to market quickly using familiar technologies, planning to make technical improvements later. The core team made significant progress, but over time, the app needed updates and more development help. This is where our team came in. We collaborated with them remotely, working with business and marketing representatives to add new features. Some SEO improvements were prioritized to stay competitive with similar platforms. Our team actively participated in updating and modernizing the app, including visual updates and cost-saving measures like switching from Google Maps to Mapbox and moving from on-premise to cloud hosting.

Modernization of Real Estate Platform

Problem

The core team struggled with limited resources and found it challenging to keep up with the necessary updates and new feature demands. They also faced issues with high operational costs due to reliance on expensive technologies like Google Maps and on-premise hosting. As the website became more popular, it was visited by large number of users, which also required performance optimizations.

Solution

Our main goal was not only to extend the team but also to strengthen it with our infrastructure and development expertise. We identified performance bottlenecks and suggested possible improvements, including quick wins and refactoring suggestions. Our modernization efforts also included visual updates and the gradual adoption of modern technologies, along with cost optimizations to handle large numbers of users efficiently.

Key Results

  • Migration from SVN to Git.
  • Implementation of new visually pleasing UI.
  • Setting up CI/CD pipelines.
  • Migration from on-premise to Azure Cloud.
  • Significant cost-saving by moving from Google Maps to Mapbox.
  • API integrations with government and partner services.
